A little about Rebekah…
Rebekah Popescu is a trauma-informed, creative arts and equine-assisted psychotherapist based in the Adelaide Hills region. As a registered NDIS provider her client base is diverse. She works extensively in the realms of neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, trauma, complex grief, addictions and various other human challenges. Her therapy dog Ludo also often takes part in sessions with clients for regulation and relational connection.
Rebekah was also a lecturer and member of the academic team at the Ikon Institute of Australia for six years where she taught in the Bachelor degree programs of Art Psychotherapy, Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Following a 16 year career as a digital producer in the arts and creative media industry, Rebekah qualified as a creative arts therapist in 2012. She holds an Advanced Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy, a Graduate Diploma in Art Psychotherapy and is currently undertaking her Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Rebekah is also a certified equine-assisted psychotherapist, working with horses and other animals as her therapeutic assistants. Interview with an art therapy client
An Audio Image Recording is a discussion between a client and an art therapist for the purpose of reflecting on the client’s experience of art therapy. As the voice of an ‘expert by experience’, the client’s reflections may be useful to those considering art therapy or for organisations who may be evaluating the incorporation of art therapy as a service to their clients.
This Audio Image Recording was produced by Adelaide Art Therapy with the full consent of the client at Centacare Catholic Family Services. It demonstrates the process of creative arts therapy with a young man who was facing some tough life challenges. This recording shows how the art helps the young person develop self awareness, regulation and new insights into his behaviour.
